Marchil March retrospective

As of today the Marchil March week was officially over! 🎉🎉👏 A lot of good work and content accomplished this week, patting ourselves on the back is in due order. Thank you so much to everyone who participated!! The turnout was so much more than anticipated and made a big difference for marchil nation.

All in all, the statistics for the amount of works made for the event and publicized is as such:

That’s more than one marchil piece a day for a full month! We almost doubled the amount of fics we had! I can truly say it was a successful event, despite some bumps, and I for one am sated. Couldn’t be prouder of the community! Marchil is in good hands!!

But March isn’t quite over yet… As long as we’re still not April, feel free to make some late entries if you want to and find the time! I’ll make an extra set of stats for late works if anyone makes any. I do hope to take advantage of this and write a fic myself hehe, crossing my fingers. There isn’t enough time in a life to marchil enough~

Never in my life have I, even in my own head, said something like 'well what if I just killed myself' because I am absolutely terrified of my mortality and also know that thinking and saying such things is bad for you. When things were bad I did wish I could be admitted or just be sick enough to get to take a break from my situation, to which my beloved psychologist helpingly pointed out is sort of the same. It's a cue something has to change, that youre suffering and can't keep doing this and you want to find an out whatever that might look like. The good news is I love myself enough, and have the means and ability, to make change in a way that is less counter to living healthily and happily.

thinking about the Not Confession scene in stone wars. senku and kohaku quickly identify that gen is full of shit upon first meeting him and kohaku keeps this to herself bc it gives her an advantage over him. senku instead, almost immediately cuts through the bullshit and forces gen’s hand to make a decision then and there to trust him. by doing so gen has been deftly defeated, and it puts them on equal footing. senku implies that gen can’t hide anything from him, so gen tells him the truth. senku is in a lot of danger. gen wants something but he cannot say it in front of others, he can only tell senku in private, bc even if someone can see through his lies, the opposite isn’t always necessarily the truth. he wants cola, he doesn’t want anyone but senku to know how much he misses his old life and how this apocalyptic event changed everything and he doesn’t have many options.

there’s just something that gets me about a character who’s main skill is lying and how One Guy ruins him so bad by just Existing. gen was obsessed from day ONE.

that confession scene truly does Not matter in the broader narrative and pretty much only serves as a moment where their trust is sealed and senku realizes he’s part of the village, blah blah whatever. but the powerful no homo energy exuded from that scene cannot be escaped. gen is supposed to be the words guy! the guy who negotiates and manipulates! but in this scene gen is legitimately embarrassed and says so, and senku teases him back bc like. what else do you say when a guy says he likes you but sets the tone in such a way where he’s trying to be serious and heartfelt but you’re both guys and you are still bound by old social rules of masculinity…

and it never goes anywhere. it’s clear that gen can do nothing else but be one rung on the ladder before senku moves on to the next. senku is SUCH an important figure, how do you fall in love with the leader of your entire movement and then keep living your life? they’re both willing to risk everything (their time, their bodies, their lives) except whatever genuine and real thing that binds them together. you can’t say it out loud.

My URL isn’t the best for this game because it simply consists of the same two letters twice (I didn’t take the numbers into account), but I still scoured my entire music library to find titles that worked! I chose my OC Taylor Rook, John Seed, and the couple they form in my heart because of course I did. There are four letters in my username so I’m tagging four people: @cassietrn, @laindtt, @simplegenius042, and @strafethesesinners (only if you feel like doing this, of course)!

As for the Baptist, deep down, he was just a “Lost Child” [Brian Tyler - Far Cry 3], but on the outside, the thing most people noticed and talked about was his “Unsettling Aura” [Yoko Shimomura - Final Fantasy XV]. I wish he had had time to “Learn To Let Go” [Kesha - Rainbow]*, but all he did in the game was try to be “Unstoppable” [Sia - This Is Acting]*. Their story didn’t end well, so in another world, one that only exists in my head, they decide to “Let It Go” [Demi Lovato - Frozen] and stop being “Under The Gun” [Motörhead - Kiss of Death] all the time because I just want them to sing “Love Me Forever” [Motörhead - 1916]* and “Underneath Your Clothes” [Shakira - Laundry Service]* to each other instead!
